Chaos is ALMOST over...

It has been a while since I have been on here! I know I post some things here and there from my phone, but it has been too long! Here is a list of all the crazy things that have been going on!

1. COLLEGE APPLICATIONS (glad to report, they are all DONE and SENT IN! Waiting to hear back!)
2. The Holidays and all the fun that comes with that.
3. Finishing Personal Progress! (I am happy to say I finished on Sunday!)
4. Passing off all my scripture masteries for seminary (as of 10 Dec 2012 I have 4 more! A record!)
5. Finishing the New Testament (also for seminary)
6. Organizing activities for the YW and Laurel class and doing all my secretarial duties!

It has been a CRAZY few months!

I just wanted to write about it because today I had the most amazing experience.  I was able to attend Brenden G's Baptism and it touched my heart so much.  I so needed to be thee to hear the wonderful speakers and to see him commit himself to the Lord.  I know he is only going to go so far from here on out and he is so ready.  Before he was baptized, there were two speakers, Brother Alex Wither (I Think) and Brother Griener.

Brother Alex W spoke about how Heavenly Father loves us and WHY he loves us.  It was remarkable the things of which he spoke.  I was impressed that he had absolutely no notes and spoke with such eloquence.

Brother Griener, who teaches institute, spoke on the 10 reasons he joined the church.  I can not even begin to describe how blown away I was by how he spoke.  He was just amazing.  The spirit testified to me that the church IS true when he spoke.  I was just intrigued at the way he spoke and what he spoke of.  Some of my favorite points he made were A) we are the only church with the name "Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. and B) We Have the Priesthood, oh and C) Temples, but most importantly D) Living Prophets, but the best E) the youth. He asked Aliza A, Mikayala W, Hannah S and I to come up and recite the YW theme and it was so powerful.  He knew SO much about everything he spoke about it blew me away.  He would quote scripture like he was reading it with no notes and knew quotes from prophets and apostles as if he were standing with them conversing.  I am just speechless.

I knew that I needed to be there tonight for a reason and I knew that I needed to support Brenden.  He has so much potential and I know he is going to grow so much in the church.  His Baptism is only the beginning and I have such high hopes for him.

And as for tomorrow, another crazy day.  I am privileged to start my day off at 5:30 in Sister Farrell's seminary class and then off to school.  I have a government test and then anatomy class (which should be interesting).  After School I have 30 minutes to squeeze in scripture reading and swap cars with my mom and then golf practice! Then I am headed down to carlsbad to go to the Missionary transfer meeting and then rushing back home to make it in time for the youth-senior dinner I have been planning with the laurel presidency and all the other Youth presidencies.  Ahhh, What the teenage years are like.  I can't wait for my two weeks off.  It will be a well needed rest.  And now I must sleep, so that I can function tomorrow.

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 6 mashed medium overripe bananas

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan. (My 9×5 pan is currently scratched out of commission and so I used two 8×5 pans which you can also do, but I prefer the one big 9×5 loaf.)
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour, cinnamon, baking soda and salt. In a separate bowl, use an electric mixer to cream together butter and brown sugar. Stir in eggs and mashed bananas until well blended. Stir banana mixture into flour mixture; stir just to moisten, do not over-mix. Pour batter into prepared loaf pan.
  3. Bake in preheated oven for 60 to 65 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into center of the loaf comes out clean. Let bread cool in pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack.

I made this today and it is SO GOOD.  Moist, yet crunchy. Delicious.

Young Women in Exellence!

Today was just an all around good day. It started out with wonderful seminary with the wonderful sister Farrell and proceeded to school where I got to learn about the 1st amendment and watch a movie in anatomy. Off to golf practice, picked up my essay and then headed home! I came home to Jeffrey (this is not normal, I usually come home to an empty house) and he wanted a cookie so I ran to the store to get some ingredients. I thought: "I can squeeze these in before I am supposed to go to Andreas to get ready!" Boy did that backfire. I made the cookies and decided to drop some off at Leanne's and Allison's which made me even later. I had also forgotten a few necessary items. I got to Andreas thought and everything was great! We all got our hair done and for the first time ever I attempted to do my own makeup. Wow. That is a scary thought. I mean how hard can eye shadow and mascara be? Yeah that Is an understatement. But behold, all is well. I went with a neutral palate and it turned out fine. I also discovered the three year old mascara I was usin might need to be replaced soon. I think it's run it's course. Haha. So we got all dolled up and were ready to hit the red carpet! It was YW in Exellence time! Paige, Brooke, Lindsay, krista, Noel (not pictured) and I all went to the church. It was so cute inside and we got all ready to strut our stuff down the red carpet. It was so cute seeing all the beehives up to laurels wall down. The movie of all of us was so cute and well done. Brooke and Lindsay did an amazon job! Except for y part.., Brooke, the frame was crooked! Haha it was the funny part. They also left out the bloopers which would have made it just over the top. We then received our awards and then the candy bar was open! The beehives jumped on that and attacked that thing. Overall it was an amazing night and I am sad to say it was my last. I will miss these girls dearly next year when I am in college!

c) there were people every where because they were there to get pumpkins, so there are strangers photobombing.

Sunday Funday!

Today I woke up and it was raining! What a wonderful event to wake up to! Church was amazing too! The primary program during sacrament was so inspiring and brought the spirit into the meeting so strong! I love those kids! Sister harder taught Sunday school and as always with sister harder, it was awesome! Third hour-young women's was so cool. Sister Sundberg (my laurel advisor) told us she is pregnant! So excited for her! She taught us that we shouldn't take the spirit for granted and realize that we always have it we might just not notice it if we are so used to it! And now off to sing Noel practice! It's the most wonderful time of the year!

It was a pinterest sunday!
I found a recipie for amish chocolate chip cookies, and I wanted to try them because:
1. the picture made them look amazing.
2. there was vanilla pudding as an ingredient!
3. I was CRAVING chocolate chip cookies!
the recipie can be found on pinterest on my cult of domesticity board.
my review:
THESE COOKIES ARE AMAZING.  Sweeter than your typical cookie, but so good.  I have a massive sweet tooth and mm these hit the spot.  I made three without any chocolate chips for my mom and she loved them too!  The only issue I had was when I baked them I didn't realize how close to the heat they were.  The ones that were closest to heat got a little crispy, but still soft surprisinly! the other batch was PERFECT.  9 minutes in the oven was just right!
Chocolate Chip Pudding Cookies
Yields 36 cookies
1 cup (2 sticks) Butter, softened
3/4 cup Brown Sugar
1/4 cup White Sugar
1 small pkg Instant Vanilla Pudding mix
2 eggs
1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
2 1/4 cups All-Purpose Flour
1 teaspoon Baking Soda
1 pkg ( 12 oz) Milk Chocolate Chips
DIRECTIONS: Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Beat the butter, both sugars, pudding mix, eggs and vanilla in a large bowl. Beat until creamy and fluffy. Then slowly mix in flour and baking soda. Stir in chocolate chips.
Drop by tablespoonfuls, onto an un-greased cookie sheet. Bake for ONLY 9-10 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool about 10 minutes before eating.

Today I became a statistic

Today I got rear ended before school. It was such a bummer!  SO, here's what happened.
I was driving up the hill and BAM! haha no, there was a lot more.  It was a three car accident.  This girl was reaching down to grab her junior lot pass and didn't realize that the cars on the hill were slowing down.  She slammed full speed ahead into a guy who had no where to go and went straight into the back of jadeparker.
Jeffrey saw it coming too which was weird.  and of course it happened on the day that I was driving 4 kids in the car! Any other day it would have been just Jeffrey and Me! I couldn't help but laugh though when I got hit.  My car is pretty high tech and I would have assumed that it would tell me "you've been hit" or at least something in that manner, but itstead it just dings and tells me "trunk open!" HAHA I just had to laugh.
But when it was all said and done, I was only a half hour late to math and fine the rest of the weekend. Just a little bit sore... but that's too be expected of a car accident.
Well, teenage driving 101 right? I hope to get jadeparker back soon!

Todays Date!

Today is 10-11-12! I was not aware of this until Sister Farrell told us at seminary!  We learned at seminary that forgiveness is very important and we must strive to be more like the savior! I absolutely loved this lesson!

First Day of Golf

August 22 was our first day of golf and it was so fun! Took this picture at Marbella CC at the tee box of the 6th hole!

The BEST possible way to celebrate a birthday.

we are cute. haha

lindsay... priceless.

I had such an amazing day on August 30th! My Best Friend, Paige, turned 17! She decided to go to the temple to do open baptisms and Lindsay, Brooke, and Kate came along! It was such an amazing experience. After we went to "The Counter" for lunch and it was so cool! You get to pick your burger and then a sauce and a zillion additions! It was SO HARD to pick anything! The sweet potato fries were AMAZING too. By far the best sweet potato fries I have ever had.  They were phenomenal.

Once we got home we had about an hour to regroup and then went to senior shirt making! It was super fun.  My shirt is adorable and I wear it to all the home games! After that I was so exhausted that I had to go home and rest.  After 10 years of not being sick, today my medicine made me snap. it was a good decade not being sick though.

Overall it was an amazing day! Happy Birthday Paige!

Grand Canyon today. Breathtaking views!

Day 12 of the "Utah trip": grand canyon!

Today started off extremely early again. Up at 5 to get going by 530. So worth it though. We drove to the grand canyon! Once we got there it was amazing. Breathtaking views of the canyon. It didn't even look real. Its so crazy! It looks like a picture! We got tons and tons of cute pictures! Walking around was fun too cause we got different perspectives.

Around 2 ish we went and got lunch and it was so good. I had a chili dog and lemon cake. We then headed to a different viewing point snapped some more pics, took in the view and decided to head to the hotel. And so we are of to the hotel now! I'll be back tonight!

Glad to be saying goodbye! Off to the grand canyon! Bright and early!

Day 10 of the "Utah trip!"

Day 11 of the "Utah trip!"

Another bright and early start today! We were planning on leaving at 630 but once again my body woke up at 530 freaking out thinking that I over slept again. So at 545 I was all ready to go and still had 45 minutes until we left. I decided to go back to bed.

At 630 we headed out on our adventure to Vegas! I was still tired so I tried to sleep and didn't realize that my head was right by the speaker. Sleeping didn't happen... About a half hour after Provo we hit up a Denny's that was conjoined to a gas station. I had pancake poppers and they were delicious. So good. I could eat them all day long.

We kept driving and then stopped at a petting zoo that had a zebra! A ZEBRA! How cool is that? The zoo wasn't open though so all we could do we walk around and take pictures. It was still awesome though! A few more stops and a couple hours later we were in Vegas!

We couldn't check in until 3 so we went straight to the stratosphere! I had forgot how bad the smoke smell was and it was quite toasty today. Only 113 degrees.. In the shade...

At the top we took some pictures, watched people drop and then went on all three rides. Favorite by far was big shot, the one that launched u straight in the air. The spiny one on the side wasn't so bad, but I got dizzy and I never get dizzy! It was weird. The one that slides off the side was still by far the scariest.

We were then done with the stratosphere for now and went to check in at the monte Carlo! I was excited for the wave pool, lazy river and air conditioned room! Once checked in the worker told us our rooms were separate but on the same floor. Our rooms were so far apart I thought the guy looked at the map upside down and picked two random rooms!

After getting settled we went and ate lunch and had the most amazing burger with avocado and lettuce ad tomato. I got pita with humus before had too and it was seriously so good.

Our super nice server told us the pool closed at 7 and then we checked new York new York and that closed at midnight. We chose the pool. The wave pool was so much fun. I could sit in that all day. The lazy river was by far the most fun lazy river I had ever been in. Around the turns it would whip you around and get you going so fast! So much fun!

At 630 ish we got out and the professional towel smuggler struck again. Thats one more for y collection! Woo! Although I don't like these towels as much as the la Quinta ones!

We showered and went to ny ny. I was excited because it was my first time and couldn't wait. I was crazy. The ride was super uneven and it hurt! On almost every twist or turn I wacked my jaw and the ride felt worse than ghost rider!

Then we went to dinner at the same place we ate lunch. I didn't eat because I was <and still am at this moment > so full from my burger. We then headed back to the room and tried to explore level 32 and failed and so we got ready for bed and watched tv. Tomorrow is another early morning headed to the gran canyon! Until then!

Day 10 of the "Utah trip!"

Day 10 of the "Utah trip!"

Today started off early, but not nearly as early as efy! I got to sleep in but my body woke up a half hour early thinking I over slept so I just got up and lost a half hour of sleep.  In that extra half hour I managed to repackage my suitcases into two piles: what I need for the next four days and what I don't need until I get home. It was easier than I had thought.

After my cinnamon Cheerio breakfast we headed out to olympic legacy in park city! I was super excited! As we pulled up we could see the jumps and it was insane!

The first thing we saw after we had bought our tickets was the giant practice swimming pool right off the side of the jumps! It was the coolest thing ever. Literally a huge pool with pipes of air on the bottom and jumps were on one side of the pool. We had to chance to see some of them jump and it was so cool! They would slide down the ramp, jump off and do some awesome trick and then fall into the pool. About halfway down the ramp tho, the pool would start to blow air bubbles and make the water turn white on the surface because it was bubbling. I later learned that that was or perspective because if the jumper is in the air doin tricks and looks down into clear water they see the bottom of the pool as where they should land.  When there are bubbles you cant see the bottom and are forced to view the top of the pool where the bubbles are.

After being entertained for 10 minutes by the pool we decided to use our bracelets we just bought and put them to good use. First, we went on the easy zip line. I was nervous at first but once on it and hooked in I was fine. The workers opened the doors and let us rip.  it was really fun! The workers back at the top had overheard our convo and were giving us the down low on all the attractions. The black guy told us that the x-treme zip line was super fun and the adventure course was crazy hard and scary because it's so high up. Let me tell you after a whole day at the park and doing everything; he was right!  Once done with the baby zip line we headed up to the extreme! Two little kids and their mom were in front of us and after them we flew down the steepest zip line in the united states! It was 10 times better than the other one! We just had to go again!

Up the ski lift we went to go on the x-treme again and this time we get up there and there is a line of maybe 10 people and they are all in a group. 4 or 5 of them had cameras and then 3 or 4 were just groupies. I figured one of the guys was famous and so I asked one of his groupies: "is this guys famous or something?" at first he started laughing and then responded with something my dad would say "yeah, something like that."

I still glad absolutely no clue who this guy was so I asked "so who is he?" they guy told me he was Ryan soandso (forgot his last name). Still... No clue. So I respond bak "who is that?" he replied with " a famous motocross racer." okay so still no clue. The only cool part about the obnoxious group he was with and he himself was that they were from Australia! Which meant sick accents! Another thing was that they acted as if they were too good or the regular park and had to drive up to the top of the zip line instead of taking the ski lift like a normal person.

The line started to get long for the zip line so Paige and I decided to go on the alpine slide. The first time was fun, but we got held up because of some slow children. The second time was so fun because I flew down at full speed and only had to slow down for Paige who wanted the all clear!

After the alpine slide we walked through the museum and grabbed lunch at a little caf.e. I had a burger and even though it was charred, it was delish! Once done with lunch we headed over to the adventure camp!

Now looking back I should have do e the adventure course and then eaten. It would have been easier on my stomach. So at the adventure course there is a two part ropes course, a 60ft drop tower and another zip line, although the zip line is the only way you can get to the drop tower.

Paige and I started off at the lower ropes course which I thought would be easy but boy was I wrong. Paige went first and I am so glad she did because without her example first I would have never survived, I'm not joking, I would have died, literally. So the bottom course wasn't that hard until one apparatus and then it got hard ad scary. It was scary the whole time because we were 30 feet in the air with nothing beneath us except Forrest and the only thing keeping us alive was one single black rope attached to a cable system within the course. It was so scary. Also wind so each pole tower shook. I held onto the pole so much and scooted across the ropes instead of steps because I didn't want to die or fall for that matter. Once we finished the bottom Paige convinced me to go on the top level which was another 29  feet up! At first I wasn't going to go and then I thoughT, what the heck is holding me back? I ended up going... Scariest moments of my life. This one wasn't too bad because I knew I had stuff under me at most points and it didn't require a lot of leg strength. It mainly requires upper arm strength. The whole top was relatively easy except the last four apparatuses! They turned into a nightmare! Then in got windy and I was so done. I finished and still had all 10 fingers and toes and was ready to get on sturdy, stable, solid ground.

After a quick break Paige and I headed up to the free fall tower. That was interesting. First we had to be attached to something at all times. Then we zip lined over to the platform and then jumped off. It was so bizarre. There felt like no free fall a all controlled. The second time we went I was talking to these people on front of us from Kentucky and they knew people in mission Viejo! Such a small world!

At the point we are exhausted and decided to head home. Once home I took a shower, helped with dinner and then ate dinner. We had boneless Ribs, green  beans, corn and tomatoes. I ate everything but the tomatoes and then after we sat Round and talked and talked until it was time to go watch the olympics!

Watched those until 1029 and the. I was exhausted so I went upstairs for bed. VEFAS TOMORROW! Who's excited? MADDYS EXCITED! Im about to pass out so until tomorrow.

Day 9 of the "Utah trip"

Day 9 of the "Utah trip"

Today we had planned on skipping church and going to music and the spoken word instead. I love music and the spoken word so I was so excited!

We drove into temple square, got an awesome parking spot and then headed in. On our way in sis Sanford ran into her brother and so we got to sit with him. The whole performance was amazing, obviously, and my favorite song was the 'spiritual' and the 'god be with you til we meet again.'

After ergot pictures and then headed to the roof! It was so amazing up there! I had a perfect view of the temple and the whole room has stream and plants and it is just gorgeous. Randy, one of Paige's uncles was telling us interesting facts and one of them was that all the plants on the east side of the roof were native to the east Utah valley and the plants on the west of the roof were native to the west side of the Utah valley. Also the fountain that starts off small at the top and widens as it gets to the bottom represents the gospel being spread all over the earth. It was really cool.

Once we were done at the conference center we walked through temple square and I got some awesome pictures. We were then off to the great salt lake! I was really excited because I had never been there before. We drove to antelope island and I didnt even realize we were on an island until we were halfway done with our adventure. While on the island we saw a ton of bison and antelope! It was so cool! The bison were HUGE! We stopped to get pictures and then headed home.

On the way home we realized we needed more food and we would have to break the sabbath and go to the store.  mama said she would go in but sis Sanford would have to go with her. Under her breath she then says 'if I'm going down you're going down with me.' it was hilarious.

Once home we made breakfast for dinner and it was so good. We then had a couple hours to kill before we went over to Larry's house for a birthday celebration. We got a performance from Dennis on the drums and it blew me away.  He was so good and once I tried to do the same thing I realized it is do much harder than it looks. You have to be so coordinated.

We then headed to Larry's in draper, Utah and on the way hit about 3 minutes of rain and then it was just windy and lightning and thunder. Larry's family was super nice and one of his daughters had made an amazing chocolate cake. I ate too much of it. It was just too good. The hole family was hilarious too. We ended up watching family home videos and they were all hilarious. After that we decided to head home but not without seeing the 'hotel house' first.

Larry had described it was being ginormous and I didn't know whether to believe him or not. We had to drive up past the draper temple to get to the house and as we got closer and closer to the temple the houses got bigger and bigger. The draper temple was gorgeous too. That might jut be where I have to get married because it is seriously drop dead gorgeous. And it over looks the salt lake valley and has such a jaw dropping view. The house we were searching for we found and it made the stars house look like a child's toy. It was freaking huge! Hotel status times 123456038262. I can't even describe how ginormous it was.

We then headed home and I was exhausted so I went straight to bed. Today we are off to the Olympic park! I'll be back later!

Day 8 of the "Utah trip"

Day 8 of the "Utah trip"

Today was bittersweet. It was m last day at efy, ever. Really sad. The past three years have been such a wonderful experience I will fever cherish and I wish I could keep going forever.

Paige and I successfully lugged down our luggage three flights of stairs and said goodbye to everyone. Got our final picture and headed on our way. We stopped by sister philburns house... Well now wedam and got to talk and visit with her. It was so cool cause it had been exactly one year since we had seen her last and it was nice to meet her husband too. We stayed for about an hour and then decided to head back.

On our way we stopped at this little diner off the 15 and it was really good food. It was super cute too. We it menus and then to order picked up the phone at the end of the table, told the waitress and then she buzzed us when the food was read. Very neat little system.

After breakfast we headed straight home and I went upstairs and took about a 5 hour nap. It was well needed. Efy was sleep depriving to the extreme this year. Once I woke up I talked to my mom on the phone and then went downstairs to watch the Olympics. Swimming was tight between Ryan Lochte and Michael phelps, but phelps beasted it out and won.

For dinner we went to a tepan resturaunt creatively named tepanyaki! Haha the food was spectacular. Super tender meat and perfect fried rice. I also ate all my veggie except the mushrooms and they blew me away.

After two quick detours we were back home and sitting around on the couch telling them all about efy. Once we were done we watched more Olympics and then I decided to go to bed because I am still exhausted and we are goin to music and the spoken word tomorrow and I need to be able to function. Post again tomorrow!

Too lazy to copy and paste day 5 of efy

The final day of efy and day 7 of the "Utah trip!"

Today I knew was going to be a fun day, but most definitely by as fun as the other days just because I was so tired and it was the last day so we had to make it count.

It started off with a devotional from Elizabeth and then we went down to personal study. I really love getting into the habit of reading my scriptures for 30 minutes each day instead of just a couple chapters and then I'm good. It also helped me get back into the habit of ready my scriptures in the summer. That has been a challenge for me.

After, we were escorted by adam to breakfast and today we broke the pact and sat with our company at breakfast. It was nice, and we talked a lot to Nathan but mainly to the other girls about the stuff that had been going on last night. At one point Nathan took Paige's phone and started reading her texts. The first one he looked at was mine and asked "why are you sending pictures of me to Maddy?" funniest. Moment. Yet. It couldn't have gotten any better because I had sent that picture to Paige and the message attached to it was "this ones for you..."  he wouldn't give the phone back and kept reading messages but I eventually took it from Nathan and we headed out to do our daily routine freshen up.

We met again in the lobby to talk about our goals that we had set at the beginning of the week and how we were going to take efy home with us. It was really cool to see that by writing something down it becomes something that you have to do and achieve. It is just a thought until you write it down.

We were then escorted to the Wilk for a morningside/ fsoy intro by bro martin and once again it was amazing. He has such a way of connecting to the youth and knowing how to reach out to us. It was a very inspiring meeting.

We then broke up into different standard rooms. We traveled as a company and wanted to go see Kylie, but we're forced into music & dance and tithing. The tithing part was cool because the counselor teaching it came up with this equation: 90% income + 10% tithing > 100% income. Once done there we got into Kylie's class and heard from her. After we went to sexual purity and language. The counselor for sexual purity was really good at what she was teaching and even gave us a catch phrase! "sex isn't a no-no it's a wait wait!"

When we were done with the fsoy activities we went to lunch and it was gross. It was a wrap with cold cuts and lettuce and other bits of stuff rolled up and then rice crispy treats and a fruit bowl. The fruit was so delish and the ice crispy treats were yummy but that wrap, man it was nasty. At lunch we took advantage of the open book policy and peppered Nathan and Kylie with questions. Mainly about there dating lives and their ex's. We then kicked Kylie out of our lunch spot because Nathan needed to talk to just the kids about his evil little plan. His plan was to get Kylie soaked so she could could cross it off her efy bucket list. And we did just that. Nathan found a trash can and filled it up with I've water. He then distracted Kylie while the whole company ran over and dumped it on her! Paige got the best picture ever of the whole scene.

But anyway that was after the 'service project.' after lunch we went back into the Wilk and had a service project for ourselves. We had four rotations and they all did something to teach us of how to share the gospel. We got cool stuff that we can hand out to our friends and it finally hit me who I needed to invite into the gospel and who i think needs it the most right now. It's cool to me to have the tools and trinkets now to share the gospel with her completely.

Immediately after the service project we booked it out of there as a company and headed to where Nathan had hid the trash can. We got there and it took four of the strongest guys to lift it and dump it on Kylie.  We waited around the corner and then all the sudden bam! Here we come Kylie! No escaping us now! In the picture Paige has it shows Nathan pushing kylie into the water as the boys just keep it coming.  It was so great cause she didn't even have time to get her backpack off and her phone was okay!  It was now free time!

I had planned on going back I my room and packing and watching the BC basketball competition from our window but instead we stayed with the group and played pool. First though Elise, Elijah and navy all raced and to my surprise Elijah won the race! I was totally expecting Elise to win! Anyway we went down to te bottom level of the cannon center and attempted to play pool while Nathan anihalated us. <sound it out, I dont know how to spell> after that we headed back to the room because we lost, we still had to pack and eat dinner all before the dance! I chose to rest instead of pack and then at dinner we saw more people from our stake who are already at BYU. Craziness. For dinner we tried chicken nuggets with fries and sweet and sour chicken. The sweet and sour was amazing and the handmade nuggets were the best I had ever tasted. We also got some smoothies!!! The one I got tasted exactly like Costco! Mmm :) after dinner I came back to clean my holes Manily, and then it was time for company pics and such. We headed down and met them and all got our group and individual pictures. They are all super adorbs! Then it was time for the dance!

Adam, the dark skinned one, escorted both Paige and me to the dance and was super chill. He also helped us avoid josh, te super clingy kid with the secret girlfriend back home. Also Adam is easy to talk to and is interesting. Once we got to the dance we lived it up! Since the dance was shorter I had tons of fun going crazy and letting loose. Nathan had the genius idea to go up into the building above the courtyard we were in and take a picture of our company. One of the coolest pictures of our company. We saw Isaac for one last time at the dance, for a picture of course and also saw brother jake And got a picture with him. The dance was super fun just some people didn't get the message that we were trying to avoid them. At the end of the dance we were escorted to the Wilk to watch our slideshow and video messages. Adam escorted us again and Nathan completely ignored or didn't hear us the whole way there. Well go with didn't hear us.

The slideshow was super cute and Paige and I were in one picture! Woop Woop! Then the video messages came on and ours was definitely the cutest! We are just so presh. Then as a youth we all sand the theme arise and as a company all out our arms around each other and swayed. I could feel the spirit so strong testifying to me that this is the true church and what we are doing an what we have been taught in the past week is true.

After that we headed to company devotional. Eric escorted us-well more like we waited by him to escort is so josh wouldn't escort is.  It was so funny because he kept running off and jumping on and over things and pretty much doing parkour. It's not like we were encouraging him or anything..... Once at the spot we were combined for like five minutes and then we split guys and girls. Nathan taught us girls about cows and serenaded us in English and Portuguese. We then proceeded to ask him questions about his love life and he ended with saying:,"don't ever date a guy who doesn't respect you. It he truly respects you he will want you to keep th highest standards. Aftert ee came back ovthe dorms and I got ready for bed. We had planned an all night et but somehow I don't think that is going to work since i am nodding off every do often. Alright enough for me today. Good night.

Day 4 of efy and day 6 of the "Utah trip!"

Today was such a spiritual day!vi always love eft Thursdays! Only bad thing is walkin around in churc clothes all day and it is HOT.

STarted off early... 6 am.. Snoozed until 615 straightened the hair and got ready and headed over to devo. It was an alright one once again and after we went down to personal study. Since we were doing a cell phone fast I didn't have my audio so I was forced to read ahaha but it was still good. Got three chapters in!

We were then escorted to breakfast and had good food! Well the donuts at least. I tried the eggs with hashbrowns and bacon, fruit and donuts and all was good except the eggs. They were powdered eggs. NASTY.

We did the usual routine of course sat y our selves, left early to freshen up and met them all in the lobby at 905. We were then escorted to the Wilk and the boys an girls separated into two different places.

The girls went to the garden plaza for the "Living Christ" activity and got some sun because the garden plaza is open and it sucked. Blinded the whole time. Once we moved to the back to talk it was fine though. We had to keep readjusting ourselves so the sun wouldn't be in our eyes.

After that was done we sang church hymns all the way to morning side and it was so awesome cause we got everyone to join in and I could feel the spirit so strong. Then at the morning side bro Martin talked about how we are all princesses of a king and our deep beauty is our spiritual attractiveness. A cool thing he said too was that "everything that matters to god is in my control."  god sets my standards, not the culture around me. we also said the young women's theme and I felt the spirit so strong I couldn't even recite the theme I was so taken aback by him testifying of its truthfulness.

After he spoke we had chicken cordon blue and it was okay. The mint brownies were delish though! At lunch we all ate as a company and talked to Nathan and Kylie most of the time. Made Kylie jealous of him and then wanted to get to the variety show early so we could get front row so that we could see Maddy and Elise perform! I guess you could say mission accomplished on the first ones there because we were an hour early!

On our way over we were missing 6 girls and still had 10 boys so it was a nice switch to have 2 boys to one girl instead of 2 girls to one boy. Paige and I still stuck to the 2 girls to one guy. It then turned into a quad and then Paige didn't want to be escorted so we all just walked. On the 10 minute walk to the stake center we got to know Tyler better which was super cool because he has been shy all week and I felt like we needed to make him feel included. All while we waited to get into the skate center, as well, we talked to him.

We weren't allowed to wait in the stake center but we could go in get water an come out and that's exactly what we did. We then played never have I ever and peppered Kylie with questions. When it was time to go into the variety show we were told wrong by some crazy person to go in when it wasn't time so they pretty much had to put us in a 'holding tank'

We got the front row. It was so sick. Dance party before the show and the show was so much better than last years. More variety, and cooler stuff! I wish we would have sat next to nicer people because the guys were snickering and making rude comments under their breaths during the whole thing. When Maddy and Elise went on we all went crazy. They did this super cool dance with words stuck onto them and they flashed the words at us in sync with the song. It was so cool. At the end three boys jumped up onto the stage and attacked them. It was super cute.

Now free time! We didn't know why to do with ourselves. We weren't tired anymore and not quite hungry yet. Headed back to the dorms the long way we passed a ton of people and then chilled in our 55 degree room until it was 5.. About dinner time. Dinner was so good and I had pasta with steak, nacho bake and fruit. Oh and a smoothie too. Sat by ourselves of course. I also noticed some kids from our stake who had just graduated and I couldn't believe they were already at BYU. Summer session is crazy. I don't know if I would be able to handle the efy kids either. Once done with dinner we did the same routine, come back, freshen up, meet up with them.

At this point I am so sore from games night and hiking up to floor three 5 times a day I don't even want to look at the stairs anymore. But we did anyway and found a second floor lounge about the bottom floor lobby. It had windows overlooking the lobby and some of the boys saw us. Also tried to check out the basement. It was locked though.

After din din we all met up to go to the music program. Once again a 10 minute walk to the stake center with escorts in 95 degree weather but what was nice about this time was that we all agreed to walk in silence and be reverent. I loved it. Once at the stake center we listened to the beautiful musical program and it was inspiring. After bro Martin gave another amazing fireside. He spoke on the pure love of Christ and the most profound thing he said was "is it really that difficult to live our standards and do what is right when we know that Christ died for us so that we can live with our heavenly father again?"   We all sang as I have loved you and that was touching.

After we had testimony meeting with two other companies and it was so powerful and moving. I am do glad I bore my testimony, but it was not easy and it took courage because I hate public speaking.

Then we were escorted back by josh who starts the conversation with "do do you have any secret boyfriends back home?" yeah pretty much ended there and we talked to Nathan and ditched Josh. Harsh, but who says that? Once we got back to our
Dorm I took a quick shower and then came outside of the bathroom to a little girl pow wow. It was nice bonding with all the girls, well minus 4 but whatevs. So we all go to devotional, it was good... And since I just out my notebook down I'm my going to quote from it because I am too tired to pick my book back up. A cool thing I remember Kylie saying was 'be careful how you treat vdog's (virtuous daughters of god) because god counts all their tears.' stuck with me.

Devo ran late so the girls took over and pushed back light out. Then somehow ended up all at Maddy and Elise's room and wanted to stay up and talk but Kylie was totally not down for it until we begged and pleaded and convinced her otherwise. It was so fun. We all crashed in Maddy ad Elise's room, called Nathan, stole Kylie's phone to talk to Nathan and then wouldn't let her get the pohne back. Genius plan until she got pissed and sent us to our rooms. But all that matters Is that we talked to Nathan right? Haha so now it is 11:45 and I am going to be exhausted tomorrow so until then!

Day 3 of efy and day 5 of the "Utah trip!"

Today started off very early. 5:30 to be specific and then snoozed the alarm clock til 5:50. Got up, curled my hair got dressed and still had 10 minutes to morning devotional. I was on top of it.

Devotional was given and a cool point that I got out of it was that sometimes the best way to bare our testimonies is to be a good example.

After that we went downstairs for personal scripture study and I made it through 1 Nephi! Onto 2 Nephi I go! One book down on my BoM checklist! We then headed to breakfast. We had to be escorted too... A whole 20 yards to the cannon center! Haha it was a joke.

Once again the pact was in place and we rushed to get food and our special seats! Breakfast was good today! I had a dry cinnamon roll (okay probably shouldn't have started with that.. Ahah) a waffle, an inlet that had ham in it, fruit and applesauce and a maple and chocolate bar. (no snickering little brothers... We ran it off at game night.) the smoothies were out again too which was a bummer. We texted BYU to let them know what we thought also. Once we were done we found Kylie and our group to ask to see what time we were going to meet up. You could clearly see that see was upset that we didn't sit with the company but we didn't care because we have too much fun sitting together.

Once we were back in the room we freshened up and went back downstairs to get the day started! I was happy I curled my hair because I got a lot of compliments which were super uplifting!

We walked to morning side and were escorted by Devon, the balloon animal maker, but we're more interested in the conversation behind us which the tool 1 was involved in. It was quite the story of how he broke his leg climbing mt. Everest. Once in morning side brother Martin spoke and it was a powerful morning side. He mainly told stories that I couldn't really take notes on but one thing I I'd get from it was that the ultimate example of diligence is the atonement. Also he talked about obedience and said that obedience is not the same thing as righteousness.

Once morning side was over we stayed in the same room for the preach my gospel activity. It was more of a talk cause all we did was listen to brother Martin again speak on the topic of recognizing the spirit in our lives.  He then gave of 14 scriptures of how to recognize it and then told us these two things:
1. Fear and faith cannot coexist, everything is within our own control.
2. Primary answers are REAL answers! Insert sacrificing a lamb joke here.

after that we went to the garden plaza for the share my gospel activity. Once again, not an activity just a speaker... He was alright and we got to share something about being a Mormon online during that so that was cool.

After that we went to lunch! Woop Woop! But wait, nasty sandwiches from last year again? Mm okay nope not flying. Saw Isaac, and jake oh and Thomas! Yeah that was not do great... Where to even begin with Thomas I don't even know but it doesn't end well so I'll stop there. We went to our company spot and started to eat "lunch." I went all protein style (mom you would be proud!) and just ate the meat. And also a banana but ruined the good streak by finishing it off with a cookie. I couldn't help it. While at lunch we filmed our 'arise and shine forth' video. It was super cute. The boys said "we will arise and shine forth because we want beautiful wives" and then the girls popped out from behind them and said "and righteous husbands!" then it zoomed in on one girl and her ctr ring as she said "thanks for always choosing the right, baby!" it was so cute! Then lunch is almost over but we have enough time to go get water so Paige and I tell BOTH KYLIE AND NATHAN we are going to get water. We do just that. We walk back to our company spot and they are GONE. Left without us.  Like I said before... No one likes us Ahahahagaha. So Paige starts freakkn out and we are asking all te counselors if they have either of their numbers.. No luck. Finally we find Kylie's room mate and she helps us find where we should be. Thank goodness. We found our group and all was well. I called kylie off Nathan's phone and I should have texted myself so Paige and I would have his number. Guess we have to get separated from the group again!

Anyway off on a tangent. Our next activity was an actual activity where we acted like missionaries teaching investigators. Paige was paired with blonde Adam and I was paired with Devon. We chose to work together because it was just easier. We talked the topic of polygamy which led to the question of "why can men e resealed to another woman if his wife dies but if a woman loses her husband she cannot be resealed?" we asked about 5 people and chad our BC finally gave us a good enough answer that we could be satisfied with.

We got out of this class 10 minutes early so that meant 10 extra minutes of free time! Sister tubb was coming today too!! I was so excited!! We had a couple minutes to kill before she came so we went to the cannon center creamery with Kylie to load up on goodies for our pizza night party! We then went to our room and talked with Paige's friend, Jen, for an hour and it was such a good conversation. We then headed to dinner, stayed true to the pact and pigged out. Burger, yea. Chimichanga, don't mind if I do. Pasta, mmm yep. Applesauce, yes please! SMOOTHIES? HECK TO THE FREAKING YES! We finally got out smoothies! Yes yes yes yes yes! We were stoked to say the least!

We headed back to our dorm and got a call from sister tubb and went outside to meet her! We pretty much tackled her in the parking lot and snuck her back up to our dorm. We talked about her life, called our sister missionaries in our ward so she could talk to them and acted like 12 year olds when we screamed out the window to isaac and chad and then ducked down. Haha, fun times.

Said good bye to sister tubb and off to meet our company. To our surprise Devon had made us all swords during free time and so we all got swords to fight with. It was awesome. Oh and pink pre wrap too. We were the most spirited team. It was awesome. We were escorted to the farthest possible field in the hottest humid heat but It was so much fun once we got there!

We played four games. They were all fun but y favorite was pioneer trail. We all got in a train and walked around and then they shouted a command at us and the last person to do it was out. Our cheer or more like skit was fun, we did pick up lines-- MORMON pick up lines which didn't relate to gloriFIRES at all but it was still funny. Our banner was awesome though and we got an honorable mention!

After games night we came back and strategized well to get shower time. We let all the crazy people shower before pizza night and meanwhile we would have cute pictures, but shower after. It was super fun, but I ate too much. We talked about the boys of course and our cows and then five til Paige and I snuck out to shower. I think I took one of the fastest showers of my life because I only had t minus 13 minutes to shower, get dressed and be ready for devotional. It was a stretch but i did it! And we were the first ones in devotional too!

Devotionals topic was on charity and we all turned to our left and told that person what we loved the most spiritually about them. Some were bs and others were truely heart felt. It was kinda awkward when you could tell it was bs but no one said anything. A cool thing Kylie said was " you never know when you are the answer to someone's prayer."

Then it was lights out and off To bed we go. I wrote this post in record time too! Less than 45 minutes! Woop Woop! I hope I didn't leave anything too important out. Today was awesome and I am SO EXCITED for tomorrow! Weeooooo! See you then!

Day 2 of efy and Day 4 of the "Utah trip!"

Today started off great for me. I woke up at 6:30 and got ready. Hair was already done so the only thing was get dressed and brush teeth!

At 7 we had to meet in crazy girls room and we had a participant morning side. It was alright, but the girls weren't really prepared and they just read straight from the manual. After that we headed down to breakfast.

CANNON CENTER WOOP WOOP! We met up with the boys and headed over. Paige and I have this secret pact where we don't eat with our company at all. Well except lunch. But we stick to it at breakfast and dinner and this was no exception!  We swiped our meal cards an away we went into the endless food cavity. I grabbed a burrito which was good until it got cold, fruit, applesauce and a donut. Breakfast was hilarious. So far the most I have laughed at a meal. We found a bar where we could sit and sat in our little pair. This isn't new to us either. We did this all last year too. Hahah. But anyway so first thing I do is grab the donut... (Jeff and Dan no rude smirks!) and take a bite and say "mm yep just as good as I Remember." Paige thought was was hilarious. Kylie found us and told us the group was sitting over at a different spot and that we could join them if we wanted and so we acknowledged her but we both knew what the actual result would be. Stay where we are and where we are comfortable. So then we start to talk about our group and how there are some interesting names. Or example, navy. Paige starts to say: "who names their kid navy? That is so stupid!" as a joke I whisper: "he is right behind you!" her face dropped to say the least. Then Nathan comes and finds us and tells us the same thing Kylie told us except he invited us to get up right then and there and come join them. I responded (since i do all the talking) "it's alright." he said back "what kind of an answer is that? It's alright?" we then had to crack some jokes to make him go away like 'this is our time to talk' (it's not like we are ever apart and don't share a room or anything...) he finally left disappointed but Paige and i thought it was hilarious.

Before breakfast though we had gospel study and it was so cool. Nathan told u to study with a purpose and have a question in mind when we study so we can find an answer. My question was "how can I get along better with my brothers... Specifically Daniel because recently we havent been getting along." as I started to follow along with my bom audio book (thanks mom!) I was very happily surprised to find an answer to my question so quickly. I picked up in the place I had left off which was 1 Nephi 17. It was talking about how laman and Lemuel treated Nephi terribly and tied him up but Nephi was always nice to them and always had faith in them. I likened these scriptures unto me by comparing me to Nephi and Jeff and Dan to laman and Lemuel. It really hit me that I must always treat them kindly and always have faith in them.

After breakfast we went to morning side with brother Martin and it was really good. I misjudged him yesterday that's for sure. He was hilarious today! Still not as funny as brother Horton but pretty funny. He spoke on letting our light shine and being examples. Also before he spoke two people sang and they were so good! The male, Michael was an insanely amazing bass singer! Brother Martin compared us to moons and how we all have our own orbit here on earth and we all reflect the 'son of god' and we all have to shine in our own way. It was very touching.

Next, CLASSES!!! My absolute favorite part of efy!!! I was really upset to learn that that cut the classes in half this year! Instead of two days we only have one day and on the other day we do missionary activities which I guess are nice but I want my classes back!!

So anyway our first class was downstairs in the Wilk in the garden plaza. With a partially shaded roof Paige and I chose seats to where I wouldn't get sunburned and our eyes wouldn't be blinded. We though we did pretty well until about 10 minutes into his talk when the sun came out from behind a cover and we were blinded for about half his talk until it went away. There were also a lot of technical difficulties during that talk. The speaker, brother oehring, was from Germany and a convert to the church. He spoke on forks in the road and how we have the free agency to choose! Some key thins he mentioned were:
-we can do whatever we want to do, but we have to live with the consequences.
-all of our choices determine our destiny
-don't comprise because Satan will be there to tempt you.
He was an alright speaker but kind of cocky so we decided not to go back.

Next speaker: brother Stockton. Our favorite. Not as good as brother Wilcox, but still an amazing speaker. We went to two of his talks back to back actually, lunch just separated them. His first talk was on a firm foundation in 5 easy lessons. The five lessons are:
1. Put your armour of god on -> everyday!
2. Be kind! -> to everyone!
3. Let your light shine! -> be an example!
4. Know the difference between joy and fun. *cool thought: it isn't always easy to go downhill.*
5. Know that god knows me individually.

In his second talk he spoke on trials and how they make us or break us. *cool comment: trials make us either bItter or better. Only I make the difference.*  He came up with a list of 6 things that trails do to us. They are as follows:
1. We don't know the good until we know the bad. Trails let us know the good. (d&c 29:39)
2. Trials make is stronger and sanctify us. (d&c 101:5)
3. Trials are tests to see wether or not we stay true. ( deut. 8:2)
4. We develop christ like attributes when we go through trials. ( alma 7:11-12)
5. Pressure, heat and time make diamonds. (job 23:10)
6. We come to know the lord through our trials. (d&c 122:7)

In between his classes we had lunch. We saw Isaac again and he serenaded us. It was adorable. haha just kidding.  He was a little off tune but nothing he can't fix. Lunch was an enchilada and we sat with our company, talked to Kylie and highlight: Nathan took a picture of himself on Paige's phone! Haha we then played missionary tag... Got us nice and sweaty... Saw Kate Christensen and then headed back inside for more classes.

The last class of the day was sister Becky Herbert Haggard. Every time before someone speaks they are introduced to the audience and we learned she was from so cal but weren't sure what part and wanted to find out after. She was very intimidating at first but as her talk went on I came to love her and her teaching. She spoke on Satan and how he and the 1/3 are always there. They can't read our mind or know our thought but they can put thoughts and temptations into ours brains and lives every day. It was a very well prepared talk. Here's the cool part! So we go up to ask her what part of so cal she if from and as usual I do the talking. This time I was so extremely happy I did because it turned out to be such a cool experience. She told me she was from west Covina and almost immediately I replied "oh my gosh! My grandma lives there!" In my head I am thinking there is no way she will know her because its a big city and lots of members but we keep talking. She says she moved out of the area a while ago and I proceeded to tell her my grandma is 85 and she says well I'm 60 and then I mentioned the lark Ellen building and told her my grandma in Jolene Hannah and she screamed and screamed and started freaking out and tearing up and grabbed me and hugged me without even thinking.  She then said "you are Jolene's granddaughter? Oh my goodness! I absolutely love your grandparents." I was so taken aback by her response I didn't know how to react myself and so I started to tear up too. Now as I am writing this and looking back I realized that my prayers were answered when I shared my family with her and connected with sister haggard. I had prayed to meet someone here that needed to see me or meet me or just something special to connect with someone that I don't already know. I know recognize that she was that person and that experience I had been praying for.

On a funnier note and not so serious, as we walked out of the classroom I told Paige that I just had to call my grandma, but that she is probably sleeping. Paige starts cracking up and says "it's 2:30 there! She is sleeping??" I then had to explain that she stays up all night watching qvc and sleeps all day. Paige found that hilarious. It was a funny moment to say the least. Kinda a 'you-had-to-be-there-moment.'

After classes we had free time and we went to the BYU bookstore and I bought a sweatshirt and I love it! (p.s. it was on sale too!) we then headed back to the room and just relaxed in our nice 61 degree room. It felt soo good because it is SO hot outside!

At 5:15 we all met for dinner in the lobby except half the company didn't show up because they were already in the cannon center. Once again the pact was enforced. We literally got a seat at a bar with only two seats so no one could join us even if they wanted too. I know pres. Uchtdorf has told us not to gossip, but we needed to get our opinions of the rest of the group out and the only time we can do that is at meal times. It kind swirls out perfectly. For din din we had some Asian chicken with rice and super super super spicy sauce that almost made it Not edible for me and we also tried a chicken teriyaki burger (shout out to Velma Frye! Thought of you when I saw it being served!) which was also not edible because it was all dark meat. So I pretty much stuck to fruit and cookies. I also got a text from little miss dailee Anne during dinner saying she was very upset with me because I wasnt calling and texting her 24/7. I had to tell her nicely that I am very busy and don't have much time to be on my phone.

Also as usual, we finished our meal early so we could go and brush our teeth before the next activity. And this time was no different. Once done we met in te lobby at 6 to go over dancing and appropriate etiquette. It was awkward to say the least but when is it not when talking about what you shouldn't do. Nathan also mentioned that he hated dancing and Paige just about had it and she came up with an inside joke where she pointed to her ring finger and says: 'right here'. It is hilarious.

Off to the dance we went. Escorted by the lovey Eric we had a lot to talk about. To every escort we always tell them we are a pair because there are two extra girls and it just works better that Paige and I are always together. Eric is super polite and genuinely nice too. And he's not bad on the eye Either. Super cool guy.

To be honest I wasn't really looking forward to the two and a half hour dance but I was there and so I might as well have fun. At first our whole company didn't want to dance and Kylie kept pushing us to the back and it was kinda annoying but we all loosened up and ended up dancing and having fun. While at the dance I:
-got to know this kid josh from our company better and learned that hard way that he is super clingy just like someone else whose name won't be mentioned but the event name rhymed with cd-rom except drop the cd and add a p.
-met some cool kids from Alaska.
-saved a counselor from embarrassing female issues that would have shown in a few short minutes
-met a really nice girl, Jen, from our stake!
By the end I was a little sweaty but not too bad, I had fun and most definitely NEEDED A SHOWER ASAP.

We were escorted back to our rooms by our lovely boys and you'll never guess who asked to escort us! Mmm I just LOVE clingy! Once we got to the cannon center we parted ways and here is the best part.

Paige and I had a system down for after the dance. All our shower stuff was ready. I run to the room grab the stuff she saves the showers. Kylie also knew that we all needed to shower and as we said goodnight to the boys she shouted something along the lines of: now show me how much you want to be clean or something like that... I started to sprit as fast as I could to our dorms and up those three flights of stairs. I am proud to say I was the first up and Paige and I were the first in the showers. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED. All the other girls were jealous our plan worked do well and they decided to complain about how long we were taking the whole time so I took just a couple extra minutes to make them even more happy with me.

At 10pm sharp we headed once again across the hall to counselor devotional. Tonight it was on obedience and boy could cray girl have learned from that. The whole time she was getting up and down up and down in and out of cabinets. I don't know where her self control is an I am truely trying hard not to get do frustrated with her, but it is hard. The devotional was good, kylie went off on tangents that were interesting and then ran out of time but we were still in bed by lights out. One cool tidbit Kylie mentioned though was: "do I live by covenant or convenience?" a very good question to end on. It's now midnight and I will be arising and shining at 5:30 tomorrow to do my hair, so until tomorrow.
