SURPRISE!! Happy New Year!

This morning I woke up with plans of going to Zach M's house to chill with some homies and have a low key night.  As I layed in my bed, I thought to myself, "Zach's would be fun, Kenny's would be more fun... because Dennis is there." That thought is what sparked my most spontaneous day.  I immediately opened up my computer and started searching for flights to Vegas.

Wait... WHAT?

yes.  I did just that.  I found one on Southwest and then called my mom.  It was insane actually.

I started the phone call with: "before you say no and freak out, know I haven't booked anything yet, but.... how crazy would it be if I flew to Vegas tonight to surprise Dennis?"

her response: "yeah.. that is pretty crazy! Call your dad and tell him what you are doing."
haha.  I called my dad and he was like "I don't care, do whatever you want!"

From there I let Sally (Dennis's mom) in my on plan.  She was excited about it! I booked the flight and turned off my location services before I would forget later on.. because Dennis and I track each other.. haha.

I got ready and kept tabs with Dennis all day.   At one point he asked me why my location was off... crap! I made up some excuse and tried to cover it up. He told me later, in person, he didn't believe me.  I then got this text which broke my heart, but I had just booked my flight so I was more excited than anything.

little did he know!

The whole process of getting to Vegas was a piece of cake, expect for my flight getting delayed, but that ended up working out fine.  I sat next to this odd man, who I am pretty sure was high, and an odd woman, who couldn't hold a conversation.   The guy was overly touchy and kept brushing my arm the entire flight.  It ended up being a cool missionary experience towards the end, but it was weird.  The lady only said "yeeeeah" to everything so I just let her sit there.  They both casually asked why I was headed to Vegas and I was able to explain to them what I was doing.  The guy next to me was more excited than I was.  He kept saying "DANG! I wish I had a girlfriend like you!!" and "MAN!!! This guy is so lucky!! He better be grateful for you!" and my favorite "He better kiss the crap out of you tonight!" All those sentences were worded with more choice language though.  He was a funny guy.

The plane ride was wonderful.  No screwed up cabin pressure, a little bit of turbulence and a lot of nerves.  Anxious and excited nerves! I couldn't contain my excitement and I couldn't wait to see Dennis's face!!!

The snapchats I wanted to send him, but couldn't.  ^^^^^

Sally picked me up from the airport.  She is a gem.  I just love her so much!!
We were headed back to the house when Dennis called her.  She asked where he was and he was already on the road to Kenny's.  Crap.  So she made up the excuse that she had just "picked something up" for him and needed to give it to him.  When Dennis said "Just give it to me tonight!" she told him it was urgent.  He later said this gave it away.  But he still didn't know 100% for sure!!

We met in the BK parking lot, I hopped in the back seat, Sally filmed, and this was his reaction!

Some of his best faces:

best friend!
SURPRISE!!!

He was shocked, but secretly had a gut feeling that it was going to happen.

ALL so worth it though!!

We headed to Kenny's from there and met up with Sally and the entire family later, at the party!
We waited for Kenny to get ready to go to the VW dealership and ended up not going because it was closed.  Ally, Dennis and I went to Weinerschnitzel and it was delicious! Made my momma a little jealous by sending her a picture! ;)

NYE had officially begun!!

We started at Kenny's party and stayed there until 10:30.  From there we ventured to a YSA party over in Summerlin.  It was with all of our friends and was a blast! I got to see some awesome people and we rang in the new year there! A couple minutes before 2015, we all went outside to a wall that overlooked the entire city and valley.  So cool.  It looked like this, but dark and all lit up.  I wish I would have gotten a picture! The memory will have to do though.

freezing our butts off on the wall.

Midnight came and 2015 was here!! The fireworks went off all along the strip and it was gorgeous! I was so lucky to be there, with my best friend, in Vegas, watching the strip explode-pretty much- and ring in the new year with him! It was sweet.  :)

Oh yeah, and this also happened..
There was a little bit more than fireworks just on the strip ;)

I may or may not be slightly obsessed with this picture, because lets face it, it is adorable.
Finally got our NYE Kiss.

After we rang the New Year in the right way, we went back inside because IT WAS FREEZING.  Who knew it could get SO COLD in Vegas? it was 30 degrees. Easy.
Welcome 2015!! I just love this boy!

Cheers to the New Year!

The cutest baby! and sound sleeper.. he slept through it all, until we came and were being horribly loud after midnight.

The two crazy kids.

Happy 2015! Me, Dennis, Kenzie G, Crystal H.
I had so much fun at the party and it was so nice to see all of my friends!  I loved being able to ring the new year in with them and a bunch more not pictured! I am excited to see what 2015 holds... especially since I will be in KENTUCKY!!

New Year's Day was pretty low key as well.  Dennis and I went to bed late.. like 4:30-5am late... and had to wake up around 9:30 to go to a ward breakfast.  The breakfast was so good though.  Worth sacrificing the sleep! :) Dennis looked a little bit hung over and then the cutest baby woke him up! This baby was a gem, perfectly content and didn't cry at all!

ok, but really, is this not the cutest picture ever?
He looks so happy with that little baby!
He is going to be an amazing dad one day!

After the breakfast, Dennis and I took Lenny to wrestling practice and he showed me around his High School.  It has the most amazing view of the entire valley and city.  It sits far enough back to where you can see it all! AWESOME!! We came home, took down Christmas lights with his dad and then headed to lunch! We met up with Travis and Cory at BJ's and enjoyed good food and friends! :) I love these boys so much!!

*My dad asked me what I was up to and I sent him these pictures.
Cory & Travis

Me & Dennis

Pizookies with the guys!
Cory refused to be in the picture because we had taken one at the table...

I am so grateful for them and the extra time I was able to spend with them!

After lunch, it was time for me to head back home! Dennis was nice enough to take me to the airport and I tried so hard to keep it together.  I am getting better at saying goodbye.  It definitely is still not easy, but it is easier to say "see ya later" and "see ya soon" than "goodbye".  I thought I did pretty well with this see ya soon, but it was still sad.  I just love him so much! :)

I am so grateful that I was able to take this mini trip though.  Ringing in 2015 couldn't have been done any better! Here is to the next best year of my life!

XOXO,
Maddy

Dana Point Lights!

Adventures in Dana Point!

Tonight I was lucky enough to have a mommy-daddy-daughter date! SCORE! No brothers! Just how I like it! hahaha! It takes me straight back to every Friday night of my senior year when us three would all go out together! I love these nights!

This time, we ventured into Dana Point to see the Illumenocean lights! They were super cool and all LED.  Mitch is all about the LED lights.  He LOVES them.

They have walkways down by the docks that are all lit up and synced to music.  We walked up and down, saw it all and then went to dinner.

Dinner was... interesting and entertaining.  We ate at Turk's.. super classic beach bum bar with some tables slapped in there.  The decor was extremely authentic.. my parents said it hadn't changed in the 20 years they have lived here.  The service was borderline horrible because I am pretty sure they only had one waitress... for the entire restaurant.  We waited 10 minutes for water and then realized we didn't have a menu.  We asked the waitress if she could grab us some and she said: "Sure, I will be right back with it." Key word, it.  That hints to one menu.  She took FOREVER to get us menus.  Jokingly my mom was like "crap we might as well just grab the one from outside..."

literally 2 minutes later the waitress sets the stand up menu, FROM OUTSIDE, across our table.  We all just started busting up laughing.  We didn't know that when she said "it" she really meant, the only menu they have! Priceless.

My parents then ran into some old friends, the Fischer's.  They are super funny and I remember going to their house often when I was younger. Super nice.  So bizarre that we saw them.  They moved to Texas and were just visiting randomly.  We happened to be at the same restaurant at the same time.  Sweet reunion.

MITCH SMILED.

Apparently, I am the only one in the group who knows how to take a selfie... therefore I took all the of pictures tonight because they don't like to ask people to take pictures.  I, on the other hand, have no shame in asking people to take our picture.  Especially with a light up dancing crab.

Until next year, mr. Dancing crab!!

Merry Christmas!

XOXO,
Maddy
